Why Choose a 6 Day Uganda Safari?
A six-day safari allows you to explore Uganda’s diverse wildlife habitats without rushing through every destination. You will travel from the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park to the tropical rainforest of Kibale Forest and the mist-covered mountains of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Highlights include:
- Game drives to search for elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and lions.
- A boat cruise along the famous Kazinga Channel.
- Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest.
- Mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
- Scenic countryside views, crater lakes, and local communities.
- Comfortable accommodation and private safari transport.
Day 1: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your safari begins with a morning pickup from Entebbe or Kampala by your professional safari driver-guide. Travel west through Uganda’s countryside, passing local trading centres, farms, and beautiful rolling hills.
You may stop at the Equator for photographs and a short break before continuing towards Queen Elizabeth National Park.
After arriving, check in at your lodge, enjoy lunch, and relax. Depending on your arrival time, you may take an evening game drive to look for wildlife across the savannah.
Overnight: Lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Day 2: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Start the morning with an early game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Search for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kob, warthogs, and other wildlife. With some luck, you may spot lions resting in the grass or hunting in the early morning.
Return to the lodge for breakfast and some relaxation before heading out for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel.
The channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and is known for its concentration of hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. Elephants and buffaloes may also gather along the shoreline to drink.
Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.
Overnight: Lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kibale Forest

Enjoy breakfast before travelling towards Kibale Forest National Park. The journey offers views of crater lakes, green hills, tea plantations, and rural villages.
Kibale is famous for its chimpanzee population and rich forest biodiversity. It is also home to other primates, including red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and black-and-white colobus monkeys.
Arrive at your lodge, check in, and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Depending on your schedule, you may explore the nearby community or relax in the forest surroundings.
Overnight: Lodge near Kibale Forest National Park.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Bwindi
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering Kibale Forest with an authorised ranger.
Follow the forest trails in search of chimpanzees as they move through the trees, feed, communicate, and interact with one another. Your guide will also help you identify other primates, birds, and forest plants.
After the activity, return for lunch and begin your journey towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The transfer can be long, depending on your lodge location and the sector of Bwindi assigned for gorilla trekking.
Arrive at your accommodation, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the next day’s highlight.
Overnight: Lodge near your assigned gorilla trekking sector in Bwindi.
Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Today is one of the biggest highlights of your Uganda safari: mountain gorilla trekking.
After an early breakfast, report to the designated park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority staff. You will then enter the forest with authorised trackers and guides to search for a habituated gorilla family.
The trek can take several hours depending on where the gorillas are located. The terrain can be steep, muddy, and uneven, so sturdy hiking boots, drinking water, and suitable clothing are recommended.
When you find the gorillas, you will have a strictly regulated period to observe them in their natural habitat, following all ranger instructions and wildlife protection rules.
After the trek, return to your lodge to relax and reflect on this extraordinary wildlife encounter.
Overnight: Lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Day 6: Return to Entebbe or Kampala
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge before starting your return journey to Entebbe or Kampala. Depending on your departure arrangements, you may stop for lunch or refreshments along the way.
The return drive can be long, so travellers connecting to an international flight should allow enough time or consider an additional overnight stay.
Your six-day Uganda safari concludes with wonderful memories of wildlife, tropical forests, and the mountain gorillas of Bwindi.
Best Time to Visit Queen Elizabeth, Kibale and Bwindi
Uganda can be visited throughout the year. The drier periods, generally around June to August and December to February, are often popular for wildlife viewing and trekking. Rain can occur at any time, especially in forested areas, so suitable clothing and footwear are essential.
Book gorilla and chimpanzee permits well in advance, particularly if you plan to travel during busy periods.
